  • What is MSRP?

MSRP stands for Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price, sometimes also known as the sticker price. Because this price is only a suggestion, a dealer can choose to sell a vehicle above—or, more often, below—MSRP.

  • What is Market Average?

Based on actual recent transactions other buyers have made, the Market Average shows you the average price others paid for vehicles similar to the one you want, while taking into account that most of these vehicles have different option combinations from the ones you specified.

  • Statewide, Regional, and National Data

If there are insufficient transactions in your area, we calculate your Market Average by gathering statewide, regional, or national data. Because this data can come from a large geographical area it may not be as representative of your local market.

2020 Audi A3 Model Description

What's New Standard proximity keyless entry and start; Quantum Gray paint color; The A3 Convertible has been discontinued

For a stylish, luxurious ride that handles like a sports car and won’t break the bank, the 2020 Audi A3 sedan is a worthwhile test-drive. Its tasteful interior, standard driver safety technology, and available all-wheel drive help make it a refined and practical choice.

The 2020 Audi A3 comes in two trim levels: Premium and Premium Plus. The Premium trim has an MSRP of about $33,500 and comes with 18-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, leather upholstery, heated front seats, Audi pre sense safety technologies, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, and a panoramic sunroof. The Premium Plus adds to the above with full LED headlights, automatic high-beams, lane-keep assist with rear cross traffic assist, forward/rear parking sensors, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen Sound System, wireless smartphone charger, auto-dimming rearview mirror, additional USB ports, and a 12V power outlet. It retails for around $36,500.

The 2020 A3 makes use of two engines. The standard engine comes with front-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo produces 184 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque. The EPA estimates it should return about 30 mpg combined. The all-wheel drive version of the A3 comes with a more powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo, which generates 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The EPA expects this to get about 25 mpg combined.

The inside of the A3 takes its cues from larger Audi vehicles. As such, it is roomy, sporty, and refined. The cabin design is understated, with tasteful applications of leather, aluminum, and machined switchgear. The front air vents are large and the center stack layout is simple, dominated by HVAC controls. The infotainment screen is perched on top of the dashboard, making it easy to view and access. There is plenty of room in the front seats, and the thin A-pillars afford good forward visibility. The back seat is smaller than that of some comparable models, as is the trunk.

The Starting Market Average is a proprietary mathematical calculation based on actual recent transactions. It provides a statistically accurate understanding of what other buyers are paying for the least expensive configuration of this vehicle. Adjustments to the calculation beyond make, model, and trim are normalized based on detailed, anonymized transaction information. This accounts for the fact that most or all recently-sold vehicles included different option combinations. The data underlying the Starting Market Average calculation are filtered for extreme outliers and subjected to a weighted averaging process that considers factors such as the recency of transactions and the timing of data lags. In certain instances, the calculated result is adjusted to take account of abrupt changes in the market that may not yet be fully reflected by recent transaction prices. In all cases where the Starting Market Average is shown there is sufficient sample size and transaction detail to be statistically reliable.
