2021 Volvo V60 Model Description

What's New More driver safety features come standard; The V60 also adds curve-adaptive headlights

A premium wagon that is refined to drive and incredibly comfortable, the Volvo V60 makes a tempting alternative to an SUV. A spacious interior and high-quality materials give it the feel of a true luxury car, with excellent fuel economy and a liftgate for handling whatever life throws its way. Some competitors are larger and more luxurious. Still, for the V60’s reasonable price, you get a sleek, composed family wagon that can carry everyone in style and comfort.

Volvo offers the midsize V60 wagon in four trim levels: Momentum, Inscription, R-Design, and Polestar. The entry-level Momentum trim comes with a starting price of approximately $41,000, which situates it squarely in the middle of its segment. Volvo includes a front-wheel drivetrain that gives the V60 a blend of agility and all-weather traction. A suite of advanced driver features helps keep the V60 in its driving lane and a safe distance from pedestrians and cars, including systems like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. Other amenities include a motion-activated liftgate, a panoramic moonroof, automatic LED headlights, leather upholstery, 8-way power front seats, remote engine start, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and a 10-speaker audio system. The Inscription is more luxurious, with Nappa leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, and unique styling cues for around $46,500. The R-Design goes in a sportier direction for the same price, adding bolstered seats trimmed in Nappa leather, black exterior accents, and metal cabin trim. At the top of the lineup is the Polestar, which is the high-performance wagon. Pricing starts at around $67,000. It adds a plug-in hybrid powertrain making 415 hp, forged alloy wheels, a surround-view camera, a heads-up display, heated seats, adaptive cruise control, wireless device charging, and a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system. Shoppers can select from various optional features to equip their V60 to meet their needs. Automatic parking assistance and advanced air filtration provide extra peace of mind in new environments.

The V60 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It connects to an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. This powertrain is not quite as potent or quick as competitors, but it provides enough pickup for daily driving. It is also exceptionally quiet, and this contributes to the V60’s hushed interior atmosphere. The fuel economy is 23 mpg in the city and an excellent 34 mpg highway. The Polestar also comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, but it has been turbocharged and supercharged to produce 415 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque. Part of that power comes thanks to a hybrid-electric system that includes regenerative braking and a start-stop system. This gives the Polestar impressive speed, with an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in mixed driving and 21 miles of all-electric range. And, if you need all-wheel drive with your V60, the Polestar is the only choice.

The V60 has a clean and modern interior that rivals anything in its class for style and refinement. The elegant dashboard is dominated by a vertical touchscreen and turbine-style air vents. Volvo’s steering wheel is comfortable and nicely trimmed in high-end leather. The seats are superb. Spanning the length of the passenger area is a panoramic moonroof that lets in an incredible amount of light and contributes to the cabin’s airiness. All of the V60’s interior controls feel hefty and well-crafted. Apps like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay provide a stress-free smartphone connection. While in-cabin storage is about average, the V60 offers a sizable cargo area for holding strollers and other family gear.

I like the comfortable seats and the over 500mile range on the highway. The car is quiet and very smooth on the road. I love the look of the car, seem more proportional than the V90 and it has a huge moon roof. Great audio and the infotainment screen is not hard to operate, not sure what people are complaining about.
cons
I wish there was an easier way to add some of the inscription level features to the car, like the active bending lights and the seats that extend forward to support your legs better. (as a tall person is was hard to go without those seats) I wish the car didn't require premium gas.

The Starting Market Average is a proprietary mathematical calculation based on actual recent transactions. It provides a statistically accurate understanding of what other buyers are paying for the least expensive configuration of this vehicle. Adjustments to the calculation beyond make, model, and trim are normalized based on detailed, anonymized transaction information. This accounts for the fact that most or all recently-sold vehicles included different option combinations. The data underlying the Starting Market Average calculation are filtered for extreme outliers and subjected to a weighted averaging process that considers factors such as the recency of transactions and the timing of data lags. In certain instances, the calculated result is adjusted to take account of abrupt changes in the market that may not yet be fully reflected by recent transaction prices. In all cases where the Starting Market Average is shown there is sufficient sample size and transaction detail to be statistically reliable.
